The basics
What is Marcel?
Marcel is a 12″ magnetic art board with a set of 50 colorful geometric blocks. Arrange the blocks into letters, patterns, abstractions, and Bauhaus-style compositions — then rearrange them whenever the mood strikes. It's part art piece, part toy, part fidget, part thinking tool.
What can I make with it?
Whatever you like. The blocks are a small vocabulary of geometric shapes — squares, arches, quarter-circles, and bars — in three sizes and a full palette of color. People build words, color studies, repeating patterns, bold abstractions, and more. There's no single right way to use it, and we'll be adding games and prompts over time.
Is it art, a toy, or a fidget?
All of the above, depending on who's holding it. It hangs on a wall like art, rearranges like a toy, and keeps restless hands busy like a fidget. Most people find their own use for it.
Who is it for?
Designers, tinkerers, kids, parents, people who like to make things and people who just like to look. It's equally at home in a studio, a desk, a living room, or an office.
The object
How big is it?
The board is 12″ × 12″ × 1.25″. Blocks come in three footprints — 1″×1″, 1″×2″, and 1″×3″ — and are 0.625″ tall.
What's included?
The board with its integrated magnet grid and frame, 16 small blocks (1″×1″), 18 medium blocks (1″×2″), 16 large blocks (1″×3″), and magnetic mounting hardware. Fifty blocks in all.
What's it made of?
The board is built around a precision-milled grid with strong magnets set into it; the blocks are finished in solid color. Materials and finishes may vary by edition as we refine the design. Everything is designed, made, and assembled in the USA.
How do the blocks stay on?
Strong magnets are set into both the grid and the blocks, so they hold firm whether the board is on the wall or flat on a table. They stay put until you move them — and move easily when you want them to.
Can I hang it on the wall?
Yes. The magnetic mounting hardware lets you wall-mount Marcel, lay it flat, and switch back again without tools.
Will the blocks fall off if it's on the wall?
No — the magnets are strong enough to hold a full composition vertically. You can hang a finished board and it stays as you left it.
Are the colors going to fade?
The finishes are chosen to hold their color in normal indoor light. As with anything, we'd avoid prolonged direct sunlight.
Safety & care
Is it safe for kids?
Kids love it, and so do adults — but please note Marcel contains strong magnets and small parts. It is not a toy for young children. Keep it away from children under 3, supervise older children, and seek medical attention immediately if any magnet is swallowed (swallowed magnets can cause serious internal injury).
How do I clean it?
Wipe the board and blocks with a soft, dry or barely-damp cloth. Avoid harsh cleaners.
Anything I should keep it away from?
Keep the strong magnets away from credit cards, hard drives, pacemakers, and other electronics or magnetic media.
Ordering, shipping & returns
How much is it?
Marcel is $189 USD.
Are there other sizes or colorways?
The current edition is a single 12″ board. We're gauging interest in additional sizes and colorways — place an order and we'll ask what you'd like to see next. Demand shapes what we make.
When will my order ship?
Each Marcel is made to order in a small run. Orders ship about 4–6 weeks after they're placed. We'll email you along the way and send tracking as soon as it's on its way.
Where do you ship?
Everywhere. Domestic and international orders are both welcome. Shipping is calculated at checkout; for international orders, any duties, taxes, or customs fees are the customer's responsibility.
What's your return policy?
Undamaged items can be returned within 30 days of delivery for a full refund, in original condition. If anything arrives damaged or defective, email us within 14 days and we'll make it right with a replacement or full refund.
Can I cancel or change my order?
Yes — just email us before your board enters production and we'll cancel or adjust it, no problem.
About many many
Who makes Marcel?
many many is a small studio run by Eric Daigh, who came up making portraits and mosaics out of thousands of tiny individual parts. Marcel is that idea you can hold — many small pieces, endlessly rearrangeable. Everything is designed and made in the USA.
Why “many many”?
The name is about multiplicity — the many blocks in a single board, the many ways to arrange them, the many things a few simple parts can become.
